Day 6: Parliament Conference on Energy Diversification Strategies

Updated: Sep 12, 2022

5/11/22

We had a hot and sweaty walk in heels to the Serbian parliament. My feet HURT today wow. Walking wasn't originally in the plans, so we were told to wear our most formal wear. Anyhow, we made it!

The parliament building was historic and a thing of beauty.

Speaking today were the US Ambassador to Serbia, the Israeli Ambassador, and the Leader of the Serbian Parliament.

They spoke how more now than ever, countries need to diversify their energy methods. Specific to this war in Ukraine, Serbia relying on a single supply of energy (from Russia) means it can be used as a weapon of coercion. Though the two countries are on relatively good terms, this is a weakness, and energy independence (a state generating its own energy) is the right direction to solve to security and environmental issues.

After a long meeting, I gobbled up this strawberry walnut cake. Yes, it was as good as it looks... and all for the fair price of 350 dinar, or $3.50.

Finally to wrap up the day, Andorra and I ate a nice and affordable dinner on a rooftop restaurant. The views were top, and the atmosphere there was fun. Here is our view!

Here's the team and I!

Ćao for now!
